Christian Clem
My name is Christian Clem. I am a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I am not yet licensed by the state of Texas, but I am starting my practicum journey with Hopeful, Texas, under the supervision of Brian Schulz, MSEd, LPC at Hopeful Texas, and Dr. Christine Belaire at Lamar University. I graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Management with a minor in Psychology. Upon graduation, I worked in retail, education, and restaurants. In 2021, I decided to follow my calling and started at Lamar on my path to becoming a licensed counselor.
In addition to licensure, I am pursuing National Certified Counselor (NCC) status and certification in Play therapy. My personal philosophy is a Humanistic one, with emphasis on Existential Therapy. However, I am also training in several other techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Because of my own life’s struggles personally, professionally, and in education, I can more easily empathize with clients who struggle with such issues. I am interested in working with preteens, teens, and adults who may be struggling with one or more of the following issues: mental illness, autism, personal trauma, religious trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety, harassment or bullying, adjustment, and more. If you need help and want a fresh perspective, don’t hesitate to call and set up an appointment today.
