Tara Greer, LCSW

Tara Greer, LCSW-S

Tara Greer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Director, and LCSW-Supervisor who holds clinical licenses in both Alabama and Texas. She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of South Alabama, Mobile, graduating Cum Laude, and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

Before coming back to her home state of Texas, Tara Greer worked as an individual and family therapist in public school, hospital, and outpatient settings in Alaska and Alabama providing therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and psychiatric emergency services.

Tara Greer facilitated creating one of the first fully trauma-informed borough districts in Alaska, while also providing consultation, supervision, and field instruction for MSW candidates.

Specializations for Tara Greer include childhood and adult trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, self-injurious and suicidal behaviors, personality disorders, grief, critical incident management/CISM, and crisis intervention. Populations include adult, teen, LGBTQI+, gerontological, active/former military and dependents, first responders and at-risk populations; both individual and families.

My ideal client is someone, and anyone, who is ready to do some unpacking. Their goals when walking in the door, can be solidly concrete, still completely abstract, or anything in between. I welcome those that already have a strong concept of their own needs and have strong self-reflective skill, but also those who are searching for assistance defining those things. In those respects, every client is an ideal client; and I would be humbled and privileged to be a part of their individual journeys.

I can help you build on your strengths, and to foster and strengthen resilience, and master coping mechanisms. My specializations include childhood and adult trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, self-injurious and suicidal behaviors, personality disorders, grief, critical incident management/CISM and crisis intervention.

My current clients would describe me as engaging, compassionate, patient, funny, non-judgmental, supportive and easy-going. I provide a safe place to laugh, or cry, and to process trauma, conflict and struggles. And I will be one of the first ones to give you a high-five and celebrate your successes!

I want you to picture this: You walk into my office with goals ranging anywhere from “I just want to figure out what’s going on” to “I need to decode the meaning of life.” Whether you’ve got your personal compass calibrated or you’re still looking for your North Star, I’m here for you! Every journey is unique, and I’m just thrilled and humbled to be the sherpa for yours.
I specialize in untangling childhood and adult trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, self-injurious and suicidal behaviors, grief, critical incident management, and crisis intervention.

My current clients would say I’m engaging, compassionate, patient, funny, non-judgmental, supportive, and easy-going. My office is a place where laughter and tears flow freely, trauma gets a makeover, conflicts shrink to manageable sizes, and struggles become stepping stones. In here, we fist bump your successes and ring the bell to your breakthroughs (Yes, I have actual bells)!!

So, if you’re ready to unpack your baggage and maybe even find the best version of yourself, let’s do this! Your journey is a story worth telling—one laugh, cry, and breakthrough at a time, and I would be privileged to be a part of it.
